The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda comics follow the same basic concept as the Legend of Zelda cartoon show (part of the afternoon Super Mario Bros. Super Show!). Link and Zelda look almost exactly like their cartoon forms. However, the two heroes in the comic book are much more mature than their cartoon counterparts. Link's infamous line from the cartoon series ("Well excuuuuuuse me, Princess!") has thankfully been dropped from the comics. Link is still trying to win Zelda's affections, but he's not nearly so annoying and persistent about demanding kisses. Zelda also seems to have grown up a bit - she can still act a bit spoiled, but she too is much less annoying. Zelda's father, King Harkinian, appears in both the cartoons and comics, although his personality is very different. Harkinian in the cartoon more resembles the Mushroom King of the Nintendo Comics System (a dull-witted doofus), while the comics Harkinian is an intelligent, able ruler. It appears that the Zelda comics come after Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was released, as some characters and items from that game have appeared in the comic book stories.
